Little Compass: First Year

Little Compass provides general information for parents. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. If you believe your child is having a medical emergency, call 911. For a suspected overdose or the wrong medicine, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Common questions

Is Little Compass available yet?

Not yet. It is in private testing and is not on the App Store. This page will carry a link the day it ships.

Is Little Compass a substitute for my pediatrician?

No. It is an information app. It does not examine your baby, does not know your baby's history, and cannot diagnose anything. Use it to decide what to do next and what to ask, not instead of calling.

Will the app tell me my baby is okay?

No, and it never will. Little Compass describes what is common, what to watch for, and when to call. Nothing in it can confirm that a baby is well. Any app that tells you otherwise is overstating what it can do.

What happens in an emergency?

Emergency wording is caught before any search or AI runs, and takes you straight to fixed guidance for that situation. Those screens are always free, do not need a subscription, and work offline. If you believe your child is having an emergency, call 911 first.

Where does the guidance come from?

It is written in plain language from publicly available material from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, NICHD and the FDA. Every answer lists the organizations it draws on. Those organizations do not endorse or review Little Compass.

Is my baby's information sent anywhere?

Your baby's name, date of birth and everything you record stay on your phone. The only things that leave are the text of a question you ask the AI feature, with your baby's age but never their name, and the product or ZIP code details you type into the recall and inspection station features. See the privacy policy for the detail.

What is free and what costs money?

Urgent guidance, the medication log and the recall check are free forever. A Pro upgrade will add the full guidance library, your complete guidance history and checkup preparation. Pro pricing is coming soon, and nothing in the app can be purchased today.

Does it work without internet?

Emergency and urgent guidance work offline. Searching the guidance library works offline. The recall check, inspection station lookup and AI answers need a connection, because they query live sources.

Why is it United States only?

The guidance follows US pediatric practice, and the recall check queries US federal databases. Advice that is right in one country is not automatically right in another, so we would rather ship one country honestly than several badly.
